How to Get Books for Free (Even as Kindle Unlimited Prices Rise)

Finding Free Books Beyond Subscription Services
Amazon's Kindle Unlimited monthly price is on the rise, and a lot of people are unsubscribing.
I get it. Subscription costs add up fast.
But this doesn't mean you have to stop reading or spend a fortune on books. There are plenty of ways to get books for free—including mine and other dark romance titles you love.
Borrow from the Library
Libraries are seriously underrated.
Authors who publish "wide" (not exclusive to Amazon) almost always have their books available on Overdrive and Libby. You can borrow e-books without ever leaving your couch.
If your library doesn't have a book you want, just request it! Libraries love when you do this, and it helps authors too.
Free Books Are Everywhere
Every book retailer pushes free books, and there are tons of them available!
Take five minutes to browse the free sections on Amazon, Apple Books, or your favorite retailer. You might be surprised what you can find—including first books in series that authors make free to hook you into their worlds.
Become an ARC Reader
This is my favorite hack for getting free books.
ARC readers get finished copies of books in exchange for honest reviews. You get free books, authors get reviews. Win-win.
Most authors mention ARC opportunities in their newsletters or on their websites. If you love an author's work, check if they have an ARC team you can join.
Watch for Deals and Giveaways
Authors run deals on their books all the time.
We do $0.99 sales, free promotions, and giveaways regularly. The best way to catch these? Follow your favorite authors on social media or subscribe to their newsletters.
I have two big giveaways planned for next month myself.
Why We Give Books Away
You might wonder why authors would give away their hard work for free.
It's simple—we want to find our people. Giving away a book removes all the risk for you to try something new. If you love it, maybe you'll pick up the next one or tell a friend.
