Chapitre un : regard à l’intérieur

Le matelas grinça sous eux. La sueur fait briller la peau de Daniella tandis qu’elle chevauche Alexander, les menant tous deux vers l’extase. Alexander serre fermement ses hanches alors qu’il la couche, marquant sa peau de bleus et s’enfonçant dans la chaleur humide de son corps. Elle sent qu’il va venir.

En réponse, Daniella fait rouler ses hanches, les yeux clos, la tête renversée en arrière. Elle ne voit plus l’homme pâle sous elle, aux boucles blond sable collées au front et aux yeux bruns ardents. À la place, il se transforme dans son esprit et devient celui qu’elle désire vraiment. Son amant de fantasme. Ses cheveux bruns soyeux, ses yeux assombris, son odeur, son goût.

Elle tressaille. Son estomac se noue, un poids profond s’installant en elle tandis que son intuition s’éveille. Elle lui ordonne de partir. Si elle n’avait pas bu quelques verres de vin avant qu’il n’appelle, elle ne lui aurait jamais permis d’entrer chez elle, ni dans son lit.

Daniella s’éloigne du lit pour récupérer son peignoir. « Non, je dois me préparer pour le travail. »

Alexander ronronne. « Ça peut attendre. »

Elle sent son regard. Il parcourt son corps comme un serpent rampant prêt à frapper.

Daniella plisse les yeux. « Non, ça ne peut pas. » Elle dégage ses cheveux bruns bouclés du col de son peignoir et resserre fermement la ceinture autour de sa taille, comme pour clore le débat. « Je suis désolée si tu es confus, mais rien n’a changé dans notre accord. Je suis venue, tu es venu, et maintenant il est temps de partir. J’ai des choses à faire, et je suis sûre que tu en as aussi, ailleurs.”

Les pieds d’Alexander touchent le sol et elle pousse un soupir de soulagement. Elle se détourne pour lui laisser l’intimité nécessaire pendant qu’il s’habille, mais son corps refuse de se détendre tandis que la sensation dans son ventre devient de plus en plus pesante.

Il va partir. Il faut juste lui laisser quelques minutes.

Daniella appuie sur le bouton qui ouvre les longs rideaux rose et or couvrant ses baies vitrées du sol au plafond. Son regard se pose sur la vue époustouflante depuis son penthouse, dégagée par les gratte-ciel de New York qui l’entourent. Les doux rayons du soleil sont bas sur l’horizon, mais leurs teintes rosées contrastent toujours magnifiquement avec les bleus de l’aube.

La scène la calme presque, mais soudain un bruit brise la sérénité. Daniella se retourne et trouve Alexander derrière elle, toujours nu et bien trop près. Elle fait un pas en arrière, et il en fait un en avant, l’encerclant contre la vitre.

Il sourit en lui saisissant le menton, les lèvres frôlant les siennes. « Allez, Daniella, on sait tous les deux que tu n’as pas dit non. »

Elle plisse les yeux et écarte brusquement sa main. Mais avant qu’elle ne puisse parler, il lui couvre la bouche et se presse contre elle. « Ou alors, tu aimes juste quand c’est brutal, ma puce ? »

Son instinct de survie s’emballe, l’inondant d’adrénaline. Daniella ouvre la bouche et lui mord fort la main. Alexander ricane de douleur comme si ce n’était rien, mais il recule juste assez pour lui laisser une ouverture. Daniella en profite pour pivoter, puis se jette en avant et lui assène un coup de poing en pleine tête.

Alexander recule d’un bond et lève les mains, mais ce sourire insupportable est toujours sur son visage. « D’accord, je m’en vais. Pas besoin d’être aussi pressée. Mais n’oublie pas que je ne suis ici que parce que tu as accepté de me laisser entrer. Je ne sais pas pourquoi tu fais ta difficile maintenant, alors que j’étais profondément en toi il y a à peine dix minutes. »

« Et je trouve ça hilarant que tu croies que je joue la comédie. » Elle le foudroie du regard, les poings serrés. « Tu as raison, je t’ai laissé entrer chez moi, mais tu sais quoi ? Tout le monde fait des erreurs qu’il regrette. Alors, laisse-moi être parfaitement claire, puisque tu n’as pas compris les deux premières fois. Tu as deux choix. Soit tu quittes ma maison de ton plein gré, soit je te traîne dehors moi-même. »

Il pousse un sifflement bas et recule en saisissant ses vêtements et ses chaussures. « Comme tu veux, ma belle. Comme tu veux. »

La sensation ne disparaît pas. Ce sentiment lancinant et déchirant que quelque chose ne va pas s’est enfoui profondément dans les entrailles de Daniella. Pour être honnête, il était là depuis deux semaines, mais il n’avait jamais été aussi intense.

Avant, ce n’était qu’un murmure, quelque chose qu’elle pouvait ignorer. Cela ne l’inquiétait pas ; ce n’était même pas un nuage sur sa journée. Mais aujourd’hui, tout semblait imprégné d’une noirceur écœurante et oppressante. Même après son café, son bain chaud et sa séance de méditation, elle se sentait toujours souillée.

Peut-être que la situation avec Alexander l’avait davantage perturbée qu’elle ne le pensait. Il n’avait jamais agi ainsi auparavant. Mais aujourd’hui… Daniella secoue la tête. Peu importe. Elle ne le reverrait ni lui parler à nouveau, et s’il tentait quoi que ce soit, elle pourrait toujours compter sur les gardes du hall.

Daniella bloque son numéro et, en sortant, discute brièvement avec les deux agents de sécurité. Il ne doit en aucun cas accéder à son étage, ni entrer dans l’immeuble, sans son autorisation. Après s’être assurée qu’elle allait bien, ils répondent d’un sincère : « Bien sûr, Mademoiselle Ismania. »

Malgré cela, la sensation persiste, et si son intuition a raison, la journée s’annonce particulièrement mouvementée. Dans un soupir, Daniella remercie les gardes, puis se dépêche de sortir pour se rendre au travail.

Book 1 is an amazing start to the series. There is action, romance, spicy all wrapped up in twenty chapters. Did I mention the spice, hmmm… there is plenty of it. You might even need a few breaks in between the scenes. Book 1 does leave you in a cliffhanger but it is a doable cliff hanger. All three books are available so you obviously do not have to wait long to start the next.

I recommend to all who love supernatural and romance that are 18+.

From start to finish this book sucks you in, I wish I could help find Alexander/Zachariah, he needs a good butt kicking. I love how you know a war is going on but it's more like in the background so you can really get to know the characters. I'm not going to lie I was hoping that Dani , Greg, and Luke would have like a RH why choose but overall was very happy with this book.. on to book 2

Great Book, Melissa.

I absolutely loved this book it has everything you could want in this type of book. I couldn't put it down.
The way Melissa wrote the feelings that Greg had for Daniella made me smile and happy knowing how special that kind of love can be.
I also love how supportive everyone is of each other, knowing someone will always have your back.
After reading this book, I've decided we all need a Vampire Gregori in our lives.
I love how the book also has the magic side of things in it showing Ella being a witch is also powerful and it was great seeing Ella's powers grow.
Then there's The heat and Spice of Vampire Gregori and I could read those chapters over again.
10/10 for this great book.

Night Shade is about a vampire war and a human, Daniella, who becomes a target because she is her boss, Gregory’s mate although she isn’t aware of that fact. She has a crush on her boss though. Gregory is an old and very powerful vampire and thinks he is protecting Daniella by not telling her she is his mate. Daniella comes to realize she has powers when she is brutally attacked by Zachariah in her penthouse. Unbeknownst to Dani Zachariah is Greg’s powerful rival. She just thinks he is a one night stand. I gave this book 3.5 stars.

I screamed when I read the first paragraph and adjusted in the seat to get ready for the ride (although Daniella was already riding something).

“Where did these come from?”

“I was training with Mya.” Greg froze. “You were what? Daniella, you are a human. We are vampires. There is no need for you to do any sort of training.”

“Greg,” she tried again. “I have to learn how to protect myself.”

“God damnit, Daniella! No, you don’t. You are mine!” He snarled, pinning her hands above her head. “You are mine to protect, mine to take care of, my priority. You are my mate. If you wanted to learn how to protect yourself so badly, you should have come to me!”

“Would you let me bend you over this table and fxxk you, Ella?” Ummmm sign me up

He unbuckled his belt and ripped it free from the loops, throwing it on the ground as he prowled toward her. “I am going to worship you like the goddess you are.” All I can imagine is the one handed belt unbuckling.

While Greg does have a mouth, so does Daniella.

“Two can play that game, Gregori. After all”— her fingers fell to his lap—“ with how hard you are, it would be so easy to make a mess out of you.”
