Writing an Adult Vampire Romance Book
My birthday was this week, and I gave myself the best present: the first draft of Night Shade is done! This vampire romance book has been living in my head for so long, and seeing it finally complete feels surreal.
Hitting "first draft complete" is always a milestone worth celebrating. The story exists now—all the scenes, all the tension, all the dark paranormal romance moments I've been crafting are finally on the page. Of course, this is just the beginning. Next comes editing, proofreading, and all the polish that transforms a draft into the vampire romance book you'll eventually read. But there's something magical about reaching this point. The hardest part—getting the story out—is behind me.
The cover process has been just as exciting. I've been working with a cover designer who sent over the first concept, and it's gorgeous. They nailed the characters in a way that made my heart skip. I've requested a few small revisions, but once I get the final version back, you'll be the first to see it.
Night Shade is the first book in my Chronicles of The Otherworld vampire book series, and I can't wait to share this dark paranormal romance world with you.
